“In the 1960s in Brooklyn, Barbara was a job developer and we worked hand in hand. I discovered that she was taking other ladies to lunch, everyday. And I said to her, ‘Why is it that you never take me to lunch?’ And she said, ‘Well, you know…I’m gay.’ Then I said, ‘Gay? what does that mean?’ She replied, ‘I. love. Women.'” -Gerri Pilgrim at The Mentorship Show in April 2019
