From Reginald:

“I was evicted from my rent stabilized apartment on January 4th, 2011 on the coldest day of the year at 10am. I had to abandon my cat babies and that broke my heart.

There was a loophole in the law that required people getting SSI or SSD to pay 70% or more of their income for rent. My leadership and testimony led to the passage of the 30% Rent Cap Bill. As of April 1, 2014, 1,400 people in this situation pay 30% which is the national standard for low income families. This apartment is a result of my eviction and victory.”
